WATERFRONT STUDIO GALLERY – Watercolours, jewellery, etchings
Located at Harbour Quay, at the foot of Argyle St., the Waterfront Studio Gallery is a 200 sq. ft. store owned and operated by artist Janice Sheehan. Original watercolours and hand-coloured etchings with a west coast flavor are offered for sale, together with semi-precious gemstone and glass bead jewellery, designed and produced by Janice.

THE CURLEW WORKSHOP – Wood carvings of shorebirds
Enjoy shorebird decoys hand carved by David Parks in the tradition of the early East Coast carvers, 1820-1918. Long-billed curlews are David’s favourite bird, having grown up with them in his native Ireland. These decoys are highly imaginative works of art and represent a by-gone era. DOROTHY JARVIS STUDIO - Oils
Dorothy paints in oils and has had many of her original oils made into prints. Rural scenes are done in impressionist style. She has First Nations work, totem poles paintings and aboriginal scenes, as she is of Tsimshian ancestry.

CHIMS STUDIOS – Mixed media incl. wood, metal, glass, stone, fabric
Walking into the Gallery setting, you will be surrounded by a variety of Contemporary Northwest Coast Native artworks. There are portfolios available to view the full scope of Connie Watts’ artworks, including the large Thunderbird at the Vancouver International Airport. The working studio is filled with works in progress that have been made in this 2000 square foot studio and often with the CNC router table that Connie utilizes for her most recent works.

GORDON DICK AND GERART JEWELLERY – Jewellery, wood carvings
You know you are at the right location when you stop in front of the white rancher with a green door and shutters and a First Nations design Killer Whale railing. Their working studio is a shop behind the house to the right. Gordon Dick, a Nuu-chah-nulth artist, does fine art jewellery in copper, gold (yellow & white) and sterling silver. He also carves wood poles, totems, masks, paddles and large art pieces. Geraldine Atleo creates high quality semi-precious stone bead jewellery. Custom orders are welcome!

MIZUE’S STUDIO - Watercolours
In Mizue’s studio you will find watercolour paintings in various sizes of wild flowers, marshes, the forest floor and fruit. Still life paintings are always in progress.

PHAT BEAR STUDIO – Batik, quilting, stained glass
Patti’s background is in the laboratory sciences and it is easy to see how the accurate and precise nature of this field has influenced her artistic endeavours. Both quilting and stained glass rely heavily upon geometric shapes and precision piecing. Even the art of batik was first taught to her based upon colour formulae and mathematics. Currently, Patti uses her batik panels, which often reflect the wonders of nature, in many of her quilted pieces. Stained glass pieces frequently act as companions to her quilted wall hangings.

Margaret’s studio is in her home on Golden Street, just off River Road. She has greenware, bisque, finished ceramics, paints and brushes. Margaret offers classes on Wednesdays and Thursdays to teach the art of painting ceramics.

BAG’S POTTERY – Pottery
In Barb’s working studio you may find her hand building a vase, sculpturing a wall hanging or throwing a bowl on the wheel. She may also be glazing or finishing projects for a firing in the kiln. Then again, you never know! It could just be a play with clay day and what happens – happens!

HI FIRE YO – Clay – functional and sculptural
Yolande designed her own studio by herself. It has white walls and lots of natural light making it a very bright space. It was built above a greenspace and creek and has a sundeck attached which is very private. The studio contains a potter’s wheel, homemade slab roller and extruder, molds, objects used for decorating and a TV and stereo and “lots of pottery”.

PAMELA’S PAINTINGS - Watercolour, acrylic, collage
The lakeside studio is open only by telephone arrangements with the artist. From April until September, a garden room provides a viewing gallery in addition to visiting the small working studio year round. The studio is cozy in winter and cool in summer. Limited space is challenging both for storage of materials and for working on a variety of sizes in different media. Sproat Lake’s ever-changing views influence creative thoughts as well as calming distractions from art work in progress.
